Lower Ab Crunches
Everyone who doesn't have a perfect body would like to. It's a fact. We're all met by pictures of thin, gorgeous women and fit, muscular men wherever we look in advertising, magazines, movies and even product packaging. This makes us aware, consciously or otherwise, of how our own bodies add up compared with these ideals.
There are many things that people can do to develop their body to its full potential. For starters, a healthy diet will bring not only weight loss, but will improve the appearance of the skin and your overall sense of well being. Exercise will give you added energy and help to tone your muscles and give you a better look.
Some of the intense stomach exercises you can do will help to tone abs and can even get you washboard abs. One of these exercises is lower ab crunches. Sit-ups and crunches are certainly the best known stomach exercises and this is because they are some of the most basic and effective.
Lower ab crunches are also commonly called reverse crunches. This is because they take the motion of the traditional crunch and you essentially do it backwards. With a regular crunch, you have your feet on the floor and raise your shoulders off the ground. In lower ab crunches you start with your feet off of the ground and bring your pelvis off the ground and your knees to your chest your upper body remains in lying position.
The purpose of reverse crunches are just what their other name suggests. They target the lower abdominal muscles to give you an intense workout in that area. Not all abdominal exercises work this portion of the stomach, so this can be a very helpful one to do.
To take it up a notch you can do double crunches. This is when you combine the traditional crunch with a reverse crunch, working all your abdominals at once. You bring your knees up to meet your face as you come up in the regular crunch.
Of course there are many other exercises you should be doing if you really are looking to get well sculpted, tight abs, but lower ab crunches should definitely be a part of your abdominal workout to give you great results.
Also, keep in mind that if what you're looking for is serious definition in the form of six pack abs, you will need to make sure that you also have low enough body fat. If the muscles you work so hard to get are covered with a layer of fat, you will not able to see them. What a waste! Alter your diet to help you get the most visible results from your exercise regime.
